Historical information

Since 1934, the sports and educational work was carried out at the Institute as course of physical training.

Until 1934 the course of physical training led Naida S.M. Two full-time teachers hourly were helding classes of physical training classes and in sports sections.

Since 1948, the course was reorganized into the Department of Physical Training. The first head of department was Ignatiev Andrey Vasilevich.

Since 1952, the department was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Lecturer Vladimir Illich Stukanov.

Since 1978, the head of department was Gublin Nikolay Mihailovich.

From 1983 to 1994 head of department was Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lecturer Anatoliy Alekseevich Arkusha.

Since 1995 till 2004 the department was headed by Sergey Victorovich Korobko.

From 2004 to 2014 head of department was Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lecturer Anatoliy Alekseevich Arkusha again.

From 2015 till now the department is headed by Candidate of Sciences on Physical Training and Sport Sciences Loboda Vyacheslav Sergeevich.

During the existence of the Department the number of students which engaged in physical training has increased from 400 (in 1934) to 1465 (2012).

The period of existence of the department noted significant achievements in sports competitions at various levels.

Since 2018, the head of the department has become the candidate of pedagogical sciences Tamozhanskaya G.V. It was under her guidance that a new specialty “Physical therapy, ergotherapy” was opened on the basis of the faculty of physical education.

So men’s handball team was the winner twice of the All-Ukrainian Student Games (1988, 1990), was the bronze winner of the All-Union Student Games in 1990, women’s handball team “Panacea” was the champion of Ukraine among super league teams in 2009 and 2012, student NPhaU Kolos Alexander was bronze medalist of the World Biathlon Competition 2008 and silver medalist of the World Student Games, student NPhaU Timofeeva Mary was the silver medalist in swimming European Championship among sportsmen with disabilities in 2011, took part in V Paraolympic games in London 2012, student Lebedinskaya Victoria is a European champion and winner of the World Cup on bodybuilding. Student of the Faculty of foreign citizens education International Grandmaster Chess Nouh Al-Ali is included in the top 100 players in the world.

Sport facilities of the University has grown from a small stadium to a modern sports complex and continue to improve.
